An art exhibition weaving three generations of artists

Art lovers in the city had a gala at ‘Convergence’, an art exhibition of selected works by Asoka Katakam and Sumeela Mody at a famous gallery recently. The show was an acknowledgement of and tribute to the legacy of Sushila Jayaram, mother to Asoka and grandmother to Sumeela. The artists, Sumeela (acrylics with a palette knife) and Asoka (pen and ink) trace their experiences with the medium to Sushila, who was a pivotal force in shaping their artistic sensibilities. Renowned Indian painter, printmaker and draughtsman Kalal Laxma Goud, a contemporary of Sushila, lit the lamp and opened the exhibition. Visitors of all age groups and different nationalities were checking out the artwork. The collection enabled the guests to trace and connect the many threads weaving their way through three generations of artists. Complementing the artistic vibe, the aesthetic lighting, decor, and palatable food and drinks enhanced the mood in the gallery. Hyderabadis can check out the unique art exhibition till June 17.
