When the Godfather of Jazz in India, Louiz Banks, played with talented Indian classical musicians at Excess on Friday night, the effect was sheer magic. With Rakesh Chaurasia on flute, Chirag Katti on sitar, Satyajit Talwalkar on tabla and Shahdaab Hussain on percussion, Banks enthralled guests with some unique musical compositions. Western rhythms with overtones of jazz and blues, united with Indian classical music in perfect harmony.
The melodic lines were truly a delight. The clock seemed to be ticking faster for when the musicians wrapped up for the night, the crowd was left asking for more.
