Celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with dance and meditation in Ludhiana
Residents of an residential society in Ludhiana recently celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with spiritual activities and a surprise dance event. Over two days, they engaged in meditation, chanting, and a vibrant dance session led by eminent choreographer Suman Raj, who was visiting to honour his mentor Saroj Khan.
Neelam, originally from Himachal Pradesh, described the initial spiritual session. “Then followed a mystic one-hour meditation session, chanting of OM and inviting Lord Ganesha into our minds, body and soul with deep breathing exercises. It was a holistic experience as one became one with the spirit of a mischievous playful Childlike Ganesh and in the next fifteen minutes experiencing the might of the son of Shiv and Parvati,” she said.
During the surprise visit the next day by Suman Raj, noted dance choreographer, he shared, "Saroj ji was an inspiration to me. I was invited to a morning of dance and music and was moved beyond words at the energy displayed by these women and men as if they were all in their teens.”
Veena Thekriwal, who had just returned from a trip to the UK, appreciated the ease of learning the dance steps. “The ease with which we were taught the steps of the song ‘Jai Shree Ganesha’ was an absolute pleasure.”
Pawan, a yoga and fitness trainer, expressed his excitement about the celebrations. “We were thrilled beyond words to be part of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations with so much rhythmic dancing to the beats of the songs.”
The celebration marked an auspicious start to a week of festivities, bringing the presence of Bappa Morya into the homes and hearts of the residents.
