It’s an ancient belief that in the silvery light of the moon, Lord Krishna does the Raasleela, a divine play where he dances with the gopis. My dada guru, Ustad Khadim Hussain, would often say, ‘Kanha ke bina gaana nahin.’ So, I will try to evoke Krishna’s presence through my performance,” says vocalist Bharathi Pratap, as she talks about her performance on October 24, at Nehru Centre, Worli.

This night has both mythological and scientific importance,” says Shashi Vyas, director of Pancham Nishad.
