Cannes 2015: Strange fashion choices

The Cannes film festival 2015 brought to us the biggest fashion extravaganza what with several Hollywood and Bollywood bigwigs putting their best foot forward on the red carpet. However, there were quite a few who made news for their strange fashion choices which hinted at the evolution of an all new unconventional red carpet trend in the waiting. From giant hairdos to swimsuits - celebs did not refrain from displaying their quirky side on the Cannes red carpet. Have a look at the Cannes shockers this year…

Cannes 2015: Strange fashion choices

Bond girl, Sophie Marcea, suffered yet another wardrobe malfunction at the Cannes film festival. Dressed in a wrap-around cream gown with a very high slit at the centre, Sophie showed much more than she had bargained for, on the red carpet. In order to avoid stepping on the attire while climbing the stairs, Sophie lifted the dress too high, flashing her nude-coloured underwear. However, Sophie looked beautiful in the ensemble. She complemented the all-white look with a snake-like necklace wrapped around her neck.

Known for flaunting the craziest hairstyles on the red carpet, Elina Lenina reached an all new high when she showed off her double bun at Cannes film festival in France. Dressed in a racy net gown which left nothing to the imagination of the onlookers, Elina made a bold statement on the red carpet. However, she stole the thunder from her risqué costume with her huge double bun which overshadowed Elina’s frame with its size.

Sienna Miller seems to have mistaken the Cannes film festival as the Kite festival, as suggested by her red carpet look. Looking extremely petite and simple in the dull Valentino couture gown from the Spring 2015 collection, Sienna did not make any effort to pep up the look. She opted for a simple hairdo and a chunky bracelet. The diva, who attended the The Sea Of Trees premiere at Cannes, was certainly not in the mood to rock the red carpet.

Cannes 2015: Strange fashion choices

Musician Petite Miller seemed to have landed on the red carpet straight from the beach in a red hot swimsuit complete with a hat. The diva shocked the guests with her tiny costume which she had paired with red stilettos and side braids for the do. However, this did not help her much in making the assembled look a success. What was more surprising was that she borrowed her friends’ sandals as she changed into yet another risqué costume consisting of just an underwear and a fur top.

Liya Kebede was dressed to kill in the Proenza Schouler outfit at the premiere of Mad Max: Fury Road at the Cannes film festival but the onlookers had to focus longer to understand the disproportionate attire. Though the petite actress did justice to the dress which highlighted her slim frame, not everyone agreed with her experimental fashion choice on the red carpet. The glitter pattern with a bit of net on the waist and sheer print at the bottom proved to be too much to analyse for the onlookers.

Cannes 2015: Strange fashion choices

Israeli socialite, Hofit Golan, ditched gowns for the Cannes red carpet, as she arrived in a white printed, palazzo jumpsuit for the premiere of the film, Irrational Man. The diva walked around in the wide-legged jumpsuit that hid her stilettos completely. Though she chose the retro look for her Cannes appearances, her plunging neckline garnered much attention. In contrast, the diva had earlier made it to the list of best-dressed celebs in a beautiful black and beige gown in another Cannes appearance.

Lindsay Ellingson looked beautiful but different at the Cannes Film Festival. The diva dazzled in a silver coloured metallic dress with a sheer train which reminded us of the spacesuits seen in films. The Victoria Secret model did look picture perfect in the unique Ulyana Sergeenko ensemble which complemented her hourglass figure, but the look was definitely expected of her on the red carpet. It seems that this is just the beginning of ditching the conventional red carpet trends.

Cannes 2015: Strange fashion choices

Oscar winner, Natalie Portman, is known for her demure fashion sense but she cut a rather different picture at the A Tale Of Love And Darkness photocall during the Cannes film festival. Dressed in a feather-light short dress at the photocall, Natalie happily posed for the paparazzi as she flaunted her underwear in the sheer ensemble. Though she looked pretty as always, this was definitely not her best fashion choice.
