‘Baywatch’: Interesting facts about the film

Priyanka Chopra’s Hollywood debut, ‘Baywatch’ is all set to release in the international market on May 25. Ahead of its release in India on June 2, the actress has reportedly decided to hold a special preview for her Bollywood pals next week in Mumbai. But if you think that PeeCee is flying down to India for the screening, you’re in for a disappointment.

According to reports, the actress has no option but to skip the preview. This is due to Priyanka’s chock-a-block schedule back in the US as she is still occupied with the promotions for ‘Baywatch’ and preparing for the third season of her TV show ‘Quantico’. Owing to her demanding schedule, it will not be feasible for PeeCee to fly down to Mumbai just for a day. We hear, in her absence, the actress’ mother Madhu Chopra will play the hostess.

The reports further suggest that the guest list will include Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Parineeti Chopra and Ranveer Singh among others.

While fans eagerly await the release of ‘Baywatch’ in India, rumours are rife that Priyanka Chopra and her co-star Dwayne Johnson might feature in a Hindi promotional song. According to reports, the former Miss World who put up a head-turning appearance at the Baywatch world premiere in Miami and created a media frenzy when she hit the beach in a bikini, is working on a desi-style promotional song with her Hollywood co-star. Although the stars haven't allegedly been able to narrow down on a perfect song, the video is expected to hit screens later this week.

After the success of the much talked about TV series that is still fresh in the memories of those who witnessed it in the 90s, the announcement of the ‘Baywatch’ film brings several memories to the fore with the new cast all set to re-ignite the beach fever. Starring Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock and heartthrob Zac Efron along with Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach playing lifeguards, ‘Baywatch’ team is a new one with an added dose of humour.

‘Baywatch’ marks Priyanka Chopra’s mainstream debut in Hollywood after the success of her TV show ‘Quantico’. The diva doesn’t play a beach babe but the sultry antagonist Victoria Leeds in the film and is making much noise for her coveted role of a criminal mastermind involved in drug trafficking. Her scorching screen presence is keeping her fans curious and wanting for more.

Priyanka is super excited to play a negative character in ‘Baywatch’ after playing the baddie twice in Bollywood films ‘7 Khoon Maaf’ and ‘Aitraaz’. Interestingly, the role was written for a male and Priyanka was offered another role in the film. But the makers found her apt for the character of the villain and changed the character to a female. Now that’s called a custom-made role.

The TV series ‘Baywatch’ was known for its drool-worthy cast in red. The show made Pamela Anderson a global name, who is still known for her beach avatar. Interestingly, the original stars of the TV series, David Hasselhoff and Pamela, will be seen in guest appearances in the film. Wait and watch. This one definitely seems to be an exciting affair.

Alexandra Daddario plays a lifeguard called Summer in the film. She was chosen among many contenders like Nina Dobrev, Ashley Benson, Alexandra Shipp, Shelley Hennig, Bianca A. Santos, and Denyse Tontz. On the other hand, it was also reported that many like Kate Upton and Charlotte McKinney were also considered for the role of the other lifeguard CJ Parker which eventually went to Kelly Rohrbach.
