Dark comedies have always had a way of creeping up on people. When they think that the movie would be offensive and weird, it turns out to be a cinematic marvel, which deals with the difficult topics of our society in a humorous ways.

​In Bruges (2008)

Two Irish hitmen, Ray and Ken, are sent to live and lay low, in the secluded town of Bruges when they mess up a job. Ray wracked with guilt, starts to hate the place while Ken finds it peaceful and soothing. As they await the orders from their unhinged boss, tension rises, secrets are out and violence follows. It is dark comedy drama, filled with hilariously one liners and tragic humor.

T​he Dictator (2012)

The story follows the dark, tyrannical dictator of the fictional North African nation of Wadiya. When he arrives in New York for his speech, he gets stripped of his power and must learn to navigate the real world. It is an outrageously offensive movie, filled with politically incorrect innuendoes. The most disturbing bit is when Aladeen casually jokes about executions, torture, and human rights violations, but it is delivered with such an unnerving charm that people actually laugh.

In this charming dark comedy, Veronica is a part of the elite high school clique, ‘the heathers’, as she gets fed up with the group she and her psychotic boyfriend decide to take revenge on her cruel clique, by planning and staging a series of murders disguised as suicides. The film battles with high school bullying and societal pressures.

In a dystopian future, single people are brought to a hotel and given forty-five days to find a partner, or else they would be changed into any animal they like. A newly single guy named David (Farrell) battles the system's bizarre and cruel laws. He finds a new form of repression when he flees into the forest and joins the anti-romance rebels, endangering everything to fall in love with a woman in secret.
