Nicki Minaj's 2018 Facebook post admitting she is an 'illegal immigrant' resurfaces amid support for Donald Trump
Nicki Minaj's post from 2018 has been making waves on social media amid her recent political stance.
The rapper, who has drawn attention for her citizenship status over the years, mentioned about eight years ago, that she, like many others in the US, was an 'illegal immigrant'. In the 2018 post, screenshots of which are now going viral online, Minaj wrote, "I came to this country as an illegal immigrant @ 5 years old. I can’t imagine the horror of being in a strange place & having my parents stripped away from me at the age of 5. This is so scary to me. Please stop this. Can you try to imagine the terror & panic these kids feel right now?"
She shared the post with a photo of children on mats, covered up with blankets, in what appears to be a fenced area.
As per a report on TMZ, the rapper, went on record to as recently as 2024 to share that she is not a US citizen. A TikTok video features her saying, "I was born on a beautiful island called Trinidad and Tobago. But I’ve been in the States for many years. You would think that with the millions of dollars that I’ve paid in taxes to this country that I would have been given an honorary citizenship many, many, many thousands of years ago."
