Delroy Lindo briefly addresses BAFTA controversy and N-word slur: ‘I appreciate all the support’
Last week at the BAFTAs, as Delroy Lindo and Michael B. Jordan came on stage to announce an award, the n-word slur could be heard coming from the audience. Tourette's advocate John Davidson had been the one to say the slur live due to involuntary tics that are out of his control. While he had issued a statement on the matter, both of the ‘Sinners’ actors had remained silent about the matter. Now, a week later, Lindo is making his views on the matter clear.
He stated at the award show that, “I appreciate all the support and the love we’ve been shown in the aftermath of what happened last weekend. It means a lot to us. It’s an honor to be here this evening.”
Meanwhile, ‘Sinners’ was a big hit at the NAACP Awards as well, with Lindo taking home the award title for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his work on the vampire-themed film. At the award show, actress Regina Hall also addressed Lindo and Jordan’s presence at the award show.
As she got up on stage to present an award for the night, she took a moment to honor the two actors. She stated at the time, “Take a moment for the two kings in the audience. I just send you so much love for your class.”
