It has been almost a year that singer Lagnajita Chakraborty has deactivated her
Facebook profile. That is not all. The young musician has also uninstalled
WhatsApp from her mobile for a week. While she has not given up on her email ids and mobile phone altogether, she is largely keeping herself away from social media.
“I was very, very tired. I do not consider myself to be a person with a large memory space.
After a while, I realised that I see too many things on Facebook and was overwhelmed with all the information. As a result, I started remembering things that have little use in my life and forgetting those that I wanted to remember. This was the primary reason to be off Facebook,” she told us.
But that is not all. She also wanted to avoid certain memories that kept coming back on her virtual timeline. “We all have our little secrets and past memories that we wish to forget. With my Facebook account, I found it difficult to avoid such memories,” added Lagnajita.
But it was not a one-night decision. “While I was convinced, I was also a little hesitant. I started with a goal of a week. I tried deactivating my account for seven days and that was it. It never came back to me. Now, I don’t even feel the need,” she said.
Lagnajita has also given up on using WhatsApp. “Now, I write long emails to my parents and to my friends. While the communication is not as prompt and regular as WhatsApp, the quality of our conversation has gone up manifold,” the signer signed off.
