‘Ahare Mon’: 5 reasons you shouldn’t miss this romantic drama

One of the most anticipated Bengali films of recent times, Pratim Das Gupta’s ‘Ahare Mon’ is releasing today. The romantic drama is a mainly a superb illustration that narrates a tale of million emotions. It revolves around different people, who can’t fall in love for various reasons. Be it the flashy thief and his partner, a lonely airport employee’s friendship with an attractive passenger, a young woman’s fantasies about romancing her screen idol or an elderly couple’s eventful road trip; this film has everything you need from a romantic drama. Here are 5 reasons why ‘Ahare Mon’ is a must watch.

2/6

Mamata Shankar and Anjan Dutt’s on-screen chemistry

The success of ‘Macher Jhol’ convinced director Pratim Das Gupta to repeat Mamata Shankar in ‘Ahare Mon’ also. On the other hand, Anjan Dutt played a key role in ‘Saheb Bibi Golaam’. Now in ‘Ahare Mon’, the inevitable loneliness in the life of the elderly duo essayed out by Dutt and Shankar forms an intriguing part of the narrative. As we have already seen in the trailer, their chemistry and banters will melt your heart too. These two veteran actors appeared together in two critically acclaimed Bengali films earlier – ‘Kharij’ and ‘Grihayuddha’.

Paoli Dam and Adil Hussain’s unique love story

It seems the Adil Hussain-Paoli Dam Jodi is becoming an automatic choice for renowned directors. In ‘Ahare Mon’, Paoli plays a frequent flyer Ramona Sen who strikes a unique friendship with a lonely airport employee played by Adil Hussain. It’s always a learning experience when you get the chance to work with versatile actors and according to Paoli, working with Adil in two back to back films has taught her a lot. It will be interesting to see how these two actors have been portrayed in the romantic drama. The intriguing conversations between them in the trailer promises to be a heart-touching love story with a strong message.

An interesting story of two thieves - Michael Tendulkar and Suzi Q

We are already making a lot of assumptions about Ritwick Chakraborty and Parno Mittra's characters in the film. With such unique names as Michael Tendulkar (Ritwick) and Suzi Q (Parno), the hit jodi has increased the curiosity bar among the Bengali movie buffs ahead of the film’s release. Ritwick will be seen in a whole new avatar as a flashy thief opposite Parno Mittra, his partner in crime. Despite not being conventionally glamorous or commercially sought-after artist; Ritwick Chakraborty’s acting brilliance, his choice of films and individuality has helped him build a completely separate niche for him. Let’s see how he excels in his new role.

5/6

A lonely teenage girl and her fantasy world

Chitrangada Chakraborty's character Titli seems to be forbidden from the normal enjoyments of life but she is in search of a new meaning to her journey with an imaginary character that resembles Tollywood heartthrob Dev, as we have seen in the trailer. Among the 4 love stories in the film, her story comes with a touch of mystery. Everybody is eagerly waiting to see whether Dev is part of ‘Ahare Mon’. Even the director has remained tight-lipped about this. There is every possibility that the dashing hero might have a special appearance. Chitrangada also is excited to be a part of this film, especially for such an unconventional character she has been cast.

Director Pratim Das Gupta’s unique way of storytelling

In ‘Maacher Jhol’, Pratim Das Gupta won a million hearts with his simple touch of pure Bangaliana but this time it’s a bit different as the ace director is all set to pay a little tribute to love in ‘Ahare Mon’. After giving films like ‘Maacher Jhol’, ‘Saheb Bibi Golam’ and ‘Paanch Adhyay’, this is no doubt a completely different kind of movie. It’s a beautiful montage of love stories amongst those who can’t fall in love due to several reasons. ‘Ahare Mon’ promises to be a fun, roller-coaster, emotional ride in the lives of people you would love and care for! The way Pratim has executed the stories in his earlier works it has raised the expectation bar to create another masterfully crafted film.
