World premiere of ‘Cactus’ in Vienna
Independent filmmaker Aneek Chaudhuri is in happy space and why not? His upcoming experimental film ‘Cactus’ is an official selection at the Reaktor Indian Film Festival of Vienna scheduled to start mid-March and what’s more interesting is it will be a world premiere for ‘Cactus’. Aneek has also informed an uncut version will be shown.
“They will be screening an uncut version and I am so happy that it’s a year after ‘White’ was screened there! Here, we explore symbolic elements and you won’t find a conventionally dressed Jesus as we have seen.

It will be a metaphor to the same. 'Cactus' is the portrayal of death in its most beautiful form,” revealed an elated Aneek.
‘Cactus’ sees a female actor Aparajita Dey playing Jesus. Anurupa Chakraborty and Aishani De will be seen as the two avatars of Mother Mary.
‘Cactus’ has three segments depicting three eras – before Christ, during the period of Christ and the time following his death. The film will not feature the 12 disciples; instead Aneek wants to show them from several pieces of glass. Aneek has even utilised the Last Supper in a unique art form in this experimental film.
