The perception about commercial films is changing: Yash

Yash is elated with the accolades he's getting for

Mon Jaane Na

. The film, directed by

Bollywood

scriptwriter Shagufta Rafique, well known for acclaimed films like Aashiqui 2, Awarapan, Woh Lamhe, Raaz 2 and more, is about Aamir, a young, lonely guy who earns his living by driving a taxi. He gets introduced to a shy, orphaned girl, Pari (played by Mimi). He falls in love with her and they get married. Soon after marriage, Pari comes across certain secrets of Amir and she goes missing. For two years, Amir frantically searches for her and one day he discovers her outside a hotel in an unconscious state. However, Pari is no longer her demure self but has transformed into a reckless drug addict.

"People have a strange perception about commercial cinema. It's good to see that perception changing. Mon Jaane Na was an experiment of sorts and I'm very happy with the good feedback I'm receiving. I'm not saying we have been able to successfully change the perception about commercial movies being all candy floss with this film. But yes, it's a start. I'm too new to the industry to say this but I believe there's an audience for content-driven commercial films. I'm sure seniors in the industry think the same," he said.

Mon Jaane Na is Yash's fifth film and he's happy with the acceptance. "I'm humbled by the love and acceptance. People loved the characters. As actors, it's important that we shed our real life image and immerse ourselves in characters we play so as to make them look believable. The film is doing well on weekdays too and it's a great feeling," he said.
