Ranveer Singh is the new face of the ‘Don’ franchise, taking the mantle after Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) in the highly-anticipated ‘Don 3’, directed by Farhan Akhtar. It's been 12 years since SRK captivated fans with his portrayal of the iconic character in ‘Don 2’.
The ‘Don 3’ teaser, recently unveiled, showcases a stylized action-packed theme with a formidable Ranveer Singh at the forefront, hinting at another gripping saga. While many viewers expressed excitement over the teaser, there's a significant demand in the comments for the return of SRK to this iconic role.
However, Ranveer’s co-actor from his last film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, Tota Roy Choudhury, heaped praise on the actor. Tota retweeted Farhan’s announcement tweet and wrote, “Power-packed & riveting” with a fire emoji.
Incidentally, Tota has always showered praise on Ranveer for his passion and dedication to his crafts. He even called the Bollywood star the perfect example of ‘method actor’ earlier during the promotion of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’.
However, a certain portion of social media is not happy with Ranveer as Don. A fan commented on the teaser, acknowledging the talents of both Akhtar and Singh but expressed reservations about the latter fitting the legendary character. The sentiment was echoed by another user who compared the casting change to the ‘Race’ franchise, where Salman Khan replaced Saif Ali Khan in ‘Race 3’, leading to mixed reactions. The viewer emphasized that the character of ‘Don’ is intrinsically linked with SRK's portrayal.
Meanwhile, the compelling teaser hints at the thrilling chase of the new ‘Don’ with a voiceover stating, "When will the sleeping lion wake? Everyone asks. Tell them I'm awake and coming soon. I play with death, and winning is my job. Police from 11 countries are after me, but who has caught me? I am Don."
Farhan Akhtar had earlier introduced the teaser with the caption, "A New Era Begins. Don 3." This latest installment promises a fresh take on the franchise while still evoking memories of its predecessors.
