In Pics: ‘Dharmajuddha’s archetypal character posters sup up the film’s idea

Raj Chakraborty recently released the first-look of the protagonists in his next ‘Dharmajuddha’, an out-and-out political drama. Starring Ritwick Chakraborty, Parno Mittra, Soham Chakraborty and Subhashree Ganguly in the lead, it explores the issues of communal tensions in the marginalized sections of society. The character looks are no doubt archetypal and the posters distinctively hint at their religious identities. Scroll down to read more.

Parno Mittra as Shabnam

Parno can be seen in a hijabi avatar and her character is called Shabnam. "It was an incredible experience working with Raj. This movie is very different from the kind of films Raj usually does," Parno said while speaking about working with Raj Chakraborty.

3/6

Soham as Zabbar

Soham plays Zabbar. The actor is getting a lot of calls after his look in the film was revealed online. “People are appreciating my look in the film and working with Rajda was quite an experience. The film is about what we see around us today,” said Soham while speaking about the upcoming political thriller.

4/6

Ritwick Chakraborty as Raghav

Ritwick’s appearance doesn’t seem to be confusing as it bears resemblance with the attire of the saffron cadres these days. His character is called Raghav which coincidentally means Lord Ram. The film will explore the day-to-day struggles in a border area, where religion and caste issues take center stage in almost every situation. This leads to murder and bloodshed.

5/6

Subhashree Ganguly as Munni

Subhashree who plays Munni sports a non-glamorous avatar yet again, with no such prominent sign to determine her religion. The story starts with three characters taking shelter in the house of an elderly woman, who is looked after by a young girl. The situation worsens as these five characters face the reality. All the characters have a secret past and this gets interlinked with their present circumstances.

6/6

Swatilekha Sengupta as Ammi

Veteran actress Swatilekha Sengupta plays the role of a mother in the film. Dharmojuddho had an outdoor shoot in Purulia, where Swatilekha had to run on three consecutive nights. “With a stick in one hand and a lantern in another, I ran on three nights till 4 am. It was unbelievable,” she said. The actress, who takes a walk regularly, said it was physically challenging to pull off the part, but she is happy with the shoot even though hundreds flocked to catch a glimpse of the stars.
