I wish Uttam Kumar and I could finish our last film together: Lily Chakraborty

Veteran actress Lily Chakraborty, who played the lead opposite Uttam Kumar in Dui Prithibi and Bhola Moira still regrets missing out on one last opportunity of working with the Mahanayak. It was Inder Sen’s films, Haar Maani Ni, where she was paired opposite Mahanayak. The film got stalled midway due to Mahanayak’s health issues and couldn’t see the light of the day.
Every year on July 24, I make it a point to watch Uttamda’s film,” said the actress, adding, “My first film with Mahanayak was Bipasha, where I played Suchitra Sen’s friend. In Deya Neya, I was not cast opposite him but had the privilege to interact with him. He was extremely down to earth. He was very friendly with the technicians. Uttamda used to help a lot of technicians financially. I still remember he used to get down from his car at the studio gate and then have adda over cup of tea with technicians before entering his makeup room or the shooting floor.”
The actress will start shooting for the serial Briddhashram from July 27. “I was in two minds because the ongoing

pandemic

has brought with it a list of restrictions for the elderly people. But after I saw Soumitra Chatterjee working, I felt it is high time I overcome my fears and start working again. Of course I will keep all the safety measures in mind,” said the actress.
