The best serial killers onscreen!

The dark world of crime and criminal minds often scare us to death, but we also enjoy following the dangerous killers on screen. Watching a killer indulging himself in serial killing brings terrifying thoughts. They don’t care about any concrete motive or remorse for their work and the twisted mind performs at its best. But their sinister world has often adapted to a thrilling cinematic experience. These films drag the audience into a horrifying world of serial killers. Here’s a quick look at 6 actors who broke their good boy image for some spine-chilling serial killer characters onscreen.

2/7

Prosenjit Chatterjee in 'Baishe Srabon'

Srijit Mukherji’s ‘Baishe Srabon’ encapsulates a heady cocktail of thriller, violence, music along with Bengali poetry. Probir Roychudhury's bitterness and angst couldn’t have been essayed out better than Prosenjit, whose character seemed to be a far cry from the one in ‘Autograph’s mighty yet vulnerable superstar. Prosenjit stunned everyone with his performance as an ex-cop in this psychological thriller directed by Sriji Mukherji. According to the narrative, Prabir, suspended from his duty, works with the chief investigating officer (Parambrata) to nab a serial killer committing murder and leaves couplets from popular Bengali poems as a clue. Prosenjit’s remarkable acting was highly acknowledged by both the critics and audience. ‘Baishe Srabon’ eventually became one of the highest-grossing films of 2011.

3/7

Parambrata Chatterjee in 'Dwitiyo Purush'

A sequel to 'Baishe Srabon', 'Dwitiyo Purush' lives up to the first film’s climax. The title, Dwitiyo Purush, fits the bill because there’s one or the other such second man involved in the cop and killer chase from the very first scene. Srijit Mukherji's film approaches the end with a shocking twist. But it’s not the shock value of the ending that draws you any bit to the film. Rather, it’s the sense of a looming tricky ending that keeps you wanting to know what happens next. Police inspector Abhijit Pakrashi (Parambrata Chatterjee) gets a serial killer’s case in hand. How will he solve the case? What all will get dug up alongside the mystery? That's what forms the crux of the film. Nobody could ever imagine Abhijit will turn out to be the killer and this shocking twist makes the climax a haunting and unpredictable one.

4/7

Riteish Deshmukh in 'Ek Villain'

The 2014 runaway hit starring Shraddha Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh received appreciation from all corners for its intense storyline. The film follows the serial killer Rakesh Mahadkar played by Riteish. He murders women who talk rudely to him. The film draws its story from the vengeance of Sidharth Malhotra's character after his wife, Aisha, played by Kapoor is murdered by Rakesh.

5/7

Ritwick Chakraborty in 'Vinci Da'

'Vinci Da' begins with a horrific scene where a young Adi Bose (Riddhi Sen) beats his abusive father to death and then rings the local thana to inform the same. The scene right away set the tone of the film and the audience is dragged into the dark and twisted world of a serial killer. The story then progresses as we see Adi Bose, now a lawyer, indulge in killing with a twisted sense of justice. Meanwhile, there is a talented makeup artist, who doesn't get his due respect in the film industry. However, his world is shaken when he is tricked by Adi Bose and one fine day he finds himself responsible for a murder. Ritwick as the grown-up Adi gives a chilling performance as the serial killer. Who could have thought we ould see him as a stone-cold killer?

6/7

Nawazuddin Siddiqui in 'Raman Raghav 2.0'

The Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vicky Kaushal starrer is Anurag Kashyap's one of best dark films and tells the story of a serial killer played by Nawaz and a cop played by Vicky. Despite being on the opposite ends of the social spectrum, the two share many similarities. Premiered in the Directors' Fortnight section of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, the story is inspired by real-life killer Raman Raghav, who operated in Mumbai during the 1960s.

7/7

Saswata Chatterjee in '89'

Anyone who has seen ‘Kahani’ still remembers the unpredictable and canning Bob Biswas whose humble figure showed great contrast to his true self of a professional killer. In Manoj Michigan's '89', Saswata Chatterjee is once again a killer, but this time he is different than Bob. His portrayal of an irrational, violent psyche will give send shivers down your spine. Despite Saswata’s stellar performance as a psycho serial killer, this Bengali thriller didn’t receive a good response at the Box Office.
