Drashti Dhami talks about Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, her show Madhubala and life

After winning the sixth edition of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as a contestant, beautiful actress Drashti Dhami is now all set to host the upcoming season of the dance reality show. The actress, who is donning the hat of a host of a reality show for the first time speaks about Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, hosting and life.

Acting to hosting a reality show. Is it difficult? It's difficult because I've never done hosting before. I think I've become a pro in dancing now by learning performances.

What are the challenges that you are facing while hosting?
I think more than challenges, there's a lot to learn. Like you have to be impromptu, you should have a good sense of humor, if your co-host fumbles you should be able to cover it up. I think when you don't know people you face problems but once I start meeting up people I think everything will be fine.

Manish Paul has set a benchmark so is there a lot of pressure on you because of that?
I would like to tell everyone, please don't have a lot of expectations from me as I would be doing something very different. I can't try to do what he did, he's a pro in it. I can't be there where he was but I will try to do what he did on the show.

How is your chemistry with Ranveer Shorey? It's nice. We are still coming along. We have met four to five times when we were getting shortlisted. He's a nice guy and helps me whenever I go wrong so it will be interesting doing a show with him. He balances out for me. I would rather have somebody who is more experienced than me so that he can cover up for me when I go wrong.

What are the changes that you have witnessed in yourself post Jhalak?
I think I've become more confident now. I was really nervous the last time but at least there is a relief that I am not going to be dancing and getting scored on it. I will be comfortable with everyone this time.

Are you a witty person? I am a very sarcastic person. My jokes are very sarcastic so I don't think people will really come to know what I am saying most of the time.

What about your link-up with Siddharth Shukla? It's quite offending. I meet somebody after a year and they have gone ahead to write we are dating. Do you think I have so much time? I am very busy with my life and I've no time. I am very happy being single. I genuinely met him at the Gold awards and because we are from the same channel, I sat with him. I swear by God whoever has written that news will burn in hell and should be castrated. Right now, I don't think I need anybody new in my life.

But there is no smoke without fire? Some media people make the smoke and make the fire to get their TRPs high.

Any tips for the contestants? When you are really tired and think that you are going to die, just put in another 10 per cent of hard work and you will win it.

There are a lot of news about Madhubala going off-air? I think by now everyone must have understood that they were all rumours as it was reported in the media that the show was going off-air on 24 May 2014 and we are already in June 2014. So the show is not going anywhere.

But the TRP's are drastically going down? That happens with every show. Sometimes it goes up and sometimes it simply doesn't work. There are hundred people working on the show and everyone is trying their best. We will see what happens.
