IAF signs 3 contracts with IIT-Bombay to enhance Su-30 MKI maintenance system
NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force has signed three contracts with IIT Bombay towards the adoption of predictive maintenance for IAF's Su-30 MKI aircraft that will bring down its service costs, increase their availability and life for operations.
The initiative marks a significant step towards integrating advanced prognostic and prescriptive maintenance technologies into Indian military aviation using fully indigenous expertise and technological solutions developed at IIT- B.
In a post on X on Wednesday, the elite institute said, “This is a stepping-stone for pathbreaking technology of using advanced technology for prognostic and prescriptive maintenance, which will be developed using fully indigenous know-how evolved at IIT Bombay.”
“This paradigm shift will strengthen IAF's operational readiness, deepen technical self-reliance and accelerate the march of Indian aerospace technology towards the frontiers of predictive, data-driven engineering,” it further said. The signing of contracts was presided over by IAF Air Marshal KAA Sanjeeb, director general (aircraft), and Shireesh B Kedare, IIT Bombay director.
“This collaboration is in line with the commitment of IAF and IIT Bombay towards Aatmanirbharta in strategic technologies of the next generation and also showcases the technological prowess of our academia to develop futuristic systems in India,” IIT-B added.
