raipur: the plane of the jindal group of industries, which crashed with madhavrao scindia and seven others on board, had been used frequently by congress leaders. the plane had gone from raipur, where the jindals have their private airstrip. the group, which has several steel and power plants in chattisgarh, had allowed the government to use its plane ever since the state was formed last november. earlier, many union ministers and ministers of the madhya pradesh government had used the plane. during election campaigns, congress leaders had used the plane several times. jindals are the most favoured industrial house for both madhya pradesh and chhatisgarh government. recently, the state government had signed two mous with the group for setting up a power plant at raigarh. the government's alleged undue favours to the group has long been a subject of controversy. it had drawn flak from the opposition in the state assembly. even the scheduled castes and tribes commission had criticised the government for allowing the group to use tribal land for its raigarh plant. chhatisgarh chief minister ajit jogi, who was in up for the last three days in connection with the congress-sponsored parivartan rallies, returned to raigarh on sunday morning in the state plane.
