'Comedy Superstar': Clean, Healthy Entertainment

A channel known specifically for its comic shows, SAB TV has launched its new show ‘Comedy Superstar’ with glamorous Sushmita Sen, handsome Sonu Sood and versatile Shekhar Suman as judges. Produced by Pyramid Productions, the show’s main aim is to select the ultimate entertainer from contestants chosen from across the country.

Other than the judges, present on the occasion where, hosts of the show, Jay Soni and Sudeepa Singh along with the channel’s head honchos, N.P.Singh and Anooj Kapoor. Sushmita who was visibly excited about her new venture stole the show with her infectious energy and easy connect with the media.

Dressed in white pant suit combined with golden accessories, Sushmita was looking every inch a glam goddess. The actress who earlier judged dance reality show ‘Ek Hasina Ek Khiladi’ is back on small screen after almost 6 years. Sushmita feels that Shekhar, Sonu and herself are the ‘Mind’, ‘Body’ and ‘Soul’ of the show, respectively.

The former Miss Universe suggested that they all should sit on the steps during the photo op to which Shekhar and Sonu agreed instantly. While sharing his opinion about the show, Shekhar Suman told that, ‘Comedy Star’ was like a grooming school for participants. It’s about the journey of small town people with big dreams and strong will power.

The trio had a gala time posing for the shutterbugs especially in a ‘James Bond’ style. Sushmita was enjoying every moment of attention showered on her by her co-judges, Shekhar and Sonu. Shekhar who judged a comedy show earlier pointed out that absence of vulgarity and double meaning jokes, will make the show a pure and healthy entertainer.

‘Punjabi Munda’, Sonu took great pride in pointing out that most of the contestants where from Punjab which made ‘Bong Beauty’ Sushmita Sen a bit disappointed. The hard work and the efforts of the participants reminded B’wood hunk of his initial struggling days. Sonu had everyone in splits when he called Sush as ‘Brahmand Kumari’ (Miss Universe) and Shekhar as ‘Google’.

Sushmita, when questioned about facing competition from Kapil Sharma’s show, confessed that she is an ardent fan of Kapil and sees no harm in healthy competition. Talking about her co-judges, Sush agreed that sitting next to Shekhar has improved her Hindi. Though Sush and Sonu haven’t worked together in Bollywood, the beauty had no qualms agreeing that it was a pleasure sitting next to such ‘gorgeous’ man.

The format of ‘Comedy Superstar’ includes selection process, scoring and elimination. The judges will be the only ones judging the performances and it is not open to social media, audience polling, etc, which makes the format different from the other shows on the small screen. The show is going on air from the 22nd August 2015 at 10 pm on SAB TV.
