Visakha Dairy hikes prices to cover rising expenses
VISAKHAPATNAM: The price of milk sold by the Vijaya Visakha Milk Products Company Limited, popularly known as Visakha Dairy, increased by Rs 2 for every litre of milk on Friday.
The company took the decision in order to meet the expenditure of milk purchase from farmers, transport cost and hike in staff salaries, said a representative of the company.
P Haribabu, marketing executive of Visakha Dairy, said that the price was increased for 500 ml milk packets but not extended to the 200 ml packets.

Nearly three lakh litres of milk is sold in the city everyday. The company expects to gain an additional Rs 6 lakh per day from its customers after the price hike.
The price of homogenised double toned milk will now be Rs 20, up from the old price of Rs 19, while a 500 ml pack of full cream milk will be Rs 26. Prices of milk products like milk cake, ‘doodh peda’, etc were also increased.
The sale of milk on Sundays is in excess of 10 to 15 per cent than during other days.
