Watchman thrashed for sleeping on duty

VIJAYAWADA: A security guard was allegedly thrashed by a private builder and his assistant for sleeping while on duty at Gollapudi area in the city on Thursday night. The guard was identified as Moka Subba Rao (42). According to Bhavanipuram police, they received a complaint from Subba Rao who alleged that he was beaten by Aravind, owner of a private construction company, his clerk Ramesh and three others.

In his complaint, Subba Rao confessed that he had dozed off while on duty. However, he claimed that he was beaten up with a wire leaving ghastly injuries on his body. Upon reaching the spot, cops examined the CCTV footage near the security outpost in the building and found Aravind and Ramesh thrashing Rao.
Police took the two main accused into custody and began interrogating. A case has been registered against all five accused for hurting the man and for extortion. Meanwhile, Subba Rao was taken to Vijayawada government general hospital and was treated for his wounds.
