Tirupati: Chittoor police solved a major house burglary by arresting two inter-state thieves and recovering stolen gold and silver jewelry valued at approximately Rs 38 lakh. Chittoor I town police registered a case following a complaint lodged by NP Gautam Kiran after miscreants sneaked into his locked house and decamped with valuables recently.
A special team headed by Chittoor II town CI D Nettikantaiah arrested Perumalla Krishna (54) and his son Krishna Santosh Kumar (26) near Vivekananda statue close to Kattamanchi area after maintaining technical surveillance on their movements.
Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of 186 grams of gold ornaments worth ₹28 lakh and 3.75 kilograms of silver articles valued at ₹10 lakh. Further background checks revealed that the duo are habitual offenders targeting locked homes, with a criminal history of 17 cases in Karnataka and three in the Tirupati region.
