EESL unveils action plan to transform AP MSMEs with green technologies
Visakhapatnam: In a boost to sustainable industrial development in Andhra Pradesh, the Energy Efficiency Services Limited, under the Union ministry of power, has finalised a comprehensive and time-bound action plan aimed at transforming the MSME ecosystem across the state through advanced global technologies in energy and water efficiency. The initiative follows the success of the AP MSME Growth Summit 2026 organised by the Andhra Pradesh industries department.
Under the approved scope of work, EESL will undertake phased implementation of advanced technologies and sustainability programmes across MSME clusters in the state. The initiative includes capacity-building workshops across industrial clusters and cluster mapping and diagnostic studies for 15 industrial clusters. It will also cover investment-grade energy audits for 452 MSMEs, water audits for 300 MSMEs, and deployment of advanced energy-efficient and water-efficient technologies. The programme aims to help MSMEs adopt modern industrial practices that reduce costs, improve efficiency, enhance global competitiveness and ensure sustainable industrial growth.
EESL chief executive officer Akhilesh Kumar Dixit, in consultation with the AP MSME Development Corporation, approved the extensive implementation roadmap designed to strengthen the long-term economic sustainability of the MSMEs. The initiative is expected to reduce operational and maintenance costs for MSMEs and improve industrial productivity and competitiveness. According to officials, it will also generate large-scale green employment opportunities, promote efficient use of energy and water resources, and strengthen environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
EESL thanked chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for supporting the implementation of advanced global technologies and for handing over the work order issued by APMSME-DC to EESL during the AP MSME Growth Summit 2026 in the presence of Industries and MSME ministers TG Bharat and Kondapalli Srinivas, industries secretary Dr N Yuva Raj and APMSME CEO M. Viswa.
Dr Yuva Raj said the current phase-one implementation is only the beginning of a much larger industrial transformation opportunity for Andhra Pradesh. EESL officials said their strategic partnerships with industrially progressive states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh would help create a favourable ecosystem for the implementation of advanced industrial technologies and sustainable manufacturing practices.
A major highlight of the initiative is its potential to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities while building a strong green industrial ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh. The programme is expected to create opportunities in sectors such as energy auditing and technical consulting. It will lead to employment in manufacturing energy-efficient equipment, water management and recycling solutions, digital monitoring and IoT services, operations and maintenance, MSME advisory services, and clean technology deployment.
Officials said the initiative could pave the way for the emergence of a new green industrial services economy in Andhra Pradesh by creating demand for skilled professionals, auditors, technicians, startups, and sustainability experts.
