Woman jumps into river over family dispute

VARANASI: Gunja Sonekar (35), a native of Dhobiyanagali in Khajuri locality under Cantonment police station was feared drowned after she jumped into river Varuna from Chowkaghat Bridge on Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, Gunja was married to an auto-driver Virendra and had four children. Sources said Gunja had some quarrel with Virendra in morning after which she reached the bridge at noon and jumped into the river.
Locals reported the matter to police. On reaching the incident site police engaged divers to search Gunja. However, the body could not be searched till late in the evening.
