Boy, 12, flees from children’s home, 4 govt staff booked

Varanasi: A named FIR against four employees of the government children’s home (boys) of Ramnagar was lodged after a 12-year-old inmate fled the protection home on March 31. Lodged here since March 26 after he was brought from Firozabad, the minor boy had removed the exhaust fan of his room to escape. Talking to TOI on Sunday, acting superintendent of GCH (boys) Ashok Kumar said that the boy brought from Firozabad was found absent when the evening counting of the inmates was done on March 31. When the staff checked the room where he was kept they found that the exhaust fan of the room had been removed, he said.After this the GCH staff tried to search him on home’s campus, Ashok said adding, bus stands, railway stations and other places were also checked till Saturday. However, when the boy was not found an FIR was lodged with Ramnagar police, he said adding, four custodians of children’s home Ashok, Shiv Shankar Pandey, Sonu Prajapati and Raju Verma were also booked for laxity.The boy, who fled from children’s home, is a destitute and was found roaming in Firozabad when the agencies concerned caught him and sent him to the children’s home for proper care till his parents are searched to handover him to them, said the officials.
