Varanasi: President of Samajwadi Party’s Chandauli unit women’s wing, Gargi Singh Patel, on Friday night lodged named FIR against five, including a member of her own party and family of a former block chief, for barging into her house and assaulting her brutally on Thursday morning, in Madhiya village under Mughalsarai police station.The video of the attack was viral on social media while BJP members, led by UP minister Hansraj Vishwakarma, met her in hospital and assured her justice.Chandauli CO (PDDU Nagar) Arun Kumar Singh said one of five named accused persons, Amit Kumar Yadav (42) of Sujaabad Padao area, was arrested on Saturday. Singh said search for other accused was on.On Patel’s complaint, named FIR under sections 333 (house trespass), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation) and 309(4) (robbery) of BNS was lodged against five, including Urmila Yadav, Amit Yadav, Manoj Yadav, Moni Yadav and Siddhant Jaiswal of Ramnagar in Varanasi. Urmila is wife of Pyarelal Yadav, former block chief and partner of Patel in a real estate business.In her complaint, Patel said Pyarelal, her trade partner of 15 years, arrived at her home at 9 am on Thursday. After 10 minutes, his wife Urmila, their sons Amit and Manoj and daughter Moni raided the place and beat Patel brutally, grabbing her hair and dragging her. She alleged that when her daughters Pratigya and Pragati came to rescue, the attackers beat them too and fled after snatching her gold ornaments. She claimed the entire incident was recorded in CCTV installed in her home. She said among the attackers was SP member Siddhant Jaiswal, who during her stay at party’s Lucknow office, had issued threats of dire consequences.The incident started assumed a political tone, especially after BJP members attacked SP on the issue of disrespect meted out to OBC and women in PDA fold. BJP members visited Patel in the hospital, where she is admitted, Friday onwards and on Saturday, UP minister Hansraj Vishwakarma reached and assured that those who assault women will not be spared at any cost in the regime of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.SP’s Chandauli district unit president Satyanarain Rajbhar admitted that Siddhant Jaiswal was a party member and pointed out that Pyarelal and his family members were present at a function along with BJP’s UP minister Vishwakarma.Vishwakarma said he did not know Pyarelal or his family members. Regarding his photograph with them, Vishwakarma said he had attended a function at the residence of a party corporator where Pyarelal’s family members were among the people who welcomed him with garlands. He clarified that the accused was not a BJP members and that the incident exposed real face of SP on the issue of PDA and women. BJP stands with Gargi Patel, he added.
