Three killed in Dahod signboard collapse as heavy rain lashes central Gujarat
Vadodara: Three people lost their lives in Dahod after a massive signboard collapsed during heavy rain on Monday night. The injured victims were rushed to hospital, where two were declared dead on arrival, while the third succumbed during treatment.
The deceased were identified as Shakkariya Ninama, Himsinh Parmar and Babu Baria. The incident occurred amid intense rainfall that battered several districts of central Gujarat, including Dahod, Mahisagar and Vadodara.
In Vadodara, relentless rain continued through the night and into the early hours of Tuesday, severely disrupting normal life. Several parts of the city witnessed widespread waterlogging, with areas such as the old city, Subhanpura, Manjalpur and Waghodia among the worst affected. Flooded roads and submerged low-lying localities led to traffic congestion and major inconvenience for commuters.
The heavy downpour also caused extensive damage across the city. More than 40 trees were uprooted in different localities, while rooftop solar panels in several residential colonies were damaged.
Compounding residents’ problems, prolonged power outages affected multiple areas, leaving people without electricity for several hours as authorities worked to restore normalcy.
