3 minors, 2 of them sisters drown in Udaipur dist

Udaipur: Three minor girls including two sisters drowned while taking bath in Roopaniya Dhara river on Tuesday evening at Mer ka Khet village under Saira police station in Rawach gram panchayat, about 75 km from Udaipur.The deceased were identified as Reena Kumari (4), her 2.5-year-old sister Savita Kumari and their aunt’s daughter Jalan Garasia (4). Their bodies were handed over to their parents after the postmortems.According to Saira police station house officer (SHO) Praveen Singh Jugnawat, Jalan was visiting her aunt’s house to play with her cousins on Tuesday evening. While the parents were out for work, all three girls went to the bank of the river, which is 500 metres away from their house. While playing, they fell into the river and drowned. Passer-by Mansharam noticed the clothes of the girls lying on the river bank at around 7pm. He informed the family members who were searching for the girls. The place where the incident took place is a hilly area near a forest without any mobile network. The villagers depend on wells and rivers for their water needs. The girls, along with their family members, would often go to the river to fetch water and bathe. They were familiar with the path towards the river.
