Retired cop on bike crashes into stray cow, dies
Trichy: In yet another accident involving cattle in Trichy city, a 67-year-old retired police officer on a two-wheeler died after his vehicle collided with a stray cow on Pudukkottai Road near Kottapattu on Friday. Police identified the deceased as S Iruthaya Florence, of Anthoniyar Kovil Street near the airport. He served as a special sub-inspector with the Trichy city police.

Early on Friday morning, Iruthaya Florence was riding his motorcycle on Pudukkottai Road. When he was passing near the Sri Lankan Tamils rehabilitation camp at Kottapattu, the vehicle hit a cow on the road. He fell off the vehicle and susffered severe head and bodily injuries. He was rushed to Trichy GH but pronounced dead on arrival, police said. The KK Nagar police registered a case under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The Traffic police (south) unit is investigating. The incident has renewed concerns about stray animals, often abandoned or released by owners, disrupting traffic and endangering lives on Trichy's arterial roads.
