Man held for attempted murder
T’puram: Poonthura police arrested a 27-year-old man accused of attempting to murder a Muttathara native in retaliation for filing a police complaint against him. The accused was identified as Vishnu alias Makan Vishnu, of Muttathara.
Police said the incident occurred near Jawahar Mosque in Beemapalli ward around 5.30pm on Sunday. The accused allegedly intercepted the victim on the road, verbally abused and attacked him with a wooden log.
According to police, the attack was carried out with the intention of causing serious injuries and killing the victim.
Police revealed that Vishnu is a rowdy history-sheeter and an accused in multiple assault cases. He is also listed as an RHS accused under Fort police station limits.
Following an investigation, Poonthura police tracked down and arrested the accused. He was later produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
Police are continuing further investigation into the case.
