THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Parassala police have registered a case against four unidentified people for allegedly assaulting a shopowner and his staff at Udiyankulangara near Parassala on Friday evening.
According to the complainant, Syam S (32) of Navachakkal Vila Veedu, the gang was allegedly consuming alcohol inside a car parked in front of his shop. His staff Sujith looked inside the car after there was a traffic jam in front of the shop.
Following it, a man came out of the car and assaulted Sujith and Syam in front of Syam’s wife and a two-year-old child. The culprits assaulted the shopowner again near his house at Parasuvaikkal on Friday night. Syam is admitted to a private hospital.
“We did not want to complain as my wife was scared. However, they attacked me again near my house. It was then we decided to file a complaint. One among the culprits is involved in various criminal cases,” said Syam.
“I was kicked, smashed and beaten up on my chest, head and all over the body by the gang without any reason. My staff did not even tell them to move the car as he just came back after seeing them in a bad light,” added Syam.
Police have registered a case against four identified people under sections of IPC 323 for voluntarily causing hurt, 294 (b) uttering obscene words and 341 for wrongful restraint.
“The investigation is on and the culprits will be nabbed soon. The vehicle number given by Syam was found to be fake. We will check whether the number was wrongly noted by Syam or is a fake one,” said Parassala police station house officer
