Raid on illegal sand dredging in Kalwa creek

THANE: Unidentified persons have been booked for illegal sand dredging in the Kalwa creek.

According to police, a surprise raid was carried out by the officials of the revenue department on the creek shore of Parsik, Mumbra, Diva Dombivli area.

The team saw a boat with a suction pump while the workers on it fled away as the team approached. The boat was seized and nearly 8 brass of sand was seized in a raid.

The total cost of the boat and sand is collectively Rs 20 lakh.

Locals allege that the sand dredging continues in the creek, despite multiple raids being carried out by the revenue department.
