Kharegaon toll naka project gathers pace on busy Mumbai-Nashik route

The Mumbai–Nashik highway stretch is being widened under the MSRDC project, with officials saying most of the major road expansion work has already been completed.

Officials said a large toll plaza with nearly 30 to 38 toll booths is being developed at Kharegaon as part of the upgraded highway infrastructure.

The project involves expansion of the busy corridor from four lanes to as many as 12 lanes on key stretches to improve traffic movement.

Commuters travelling on the Mumbai–Nashik highway can witness ongoing structural and roadwork activity around the Kharegaon toll naka area, including lane expansion work.

The upcoming toll plaza is located on a crucial stretch connecting Mumbai, Thane, Bhiwandi and Nashik, making it one of the busiest transport corridors in the region.

Authorities had imposed traffic restrictions and closed parts of the Kharegaon underpass for months to facilitate ongoing widening and infrastructure work.

The scale of construction and visible highway transformation at the Kharegaon toll naka site has caught the attention of regular commuters and local residents alike.
