Surat: The election of the Federation of Surat Trade and Textile Associations (FOSTTA), one of the country’s largest textile traders’ bodies, will be held on June 20 to elect its new office-bearers.
The election will determine the leadership representing more than 50,000 textile traders connected to Surat’s vast textile business network.
The association comprises members from 240 textile markets, covering nearly 1.5 lakh shops, highlighting its significant influence in Surat’s textile industry. In the polls, registered market representatives will cast their votes to elect the new leadership.
To oversee the election process, Ashok Jain, Brujmohan Agarwal and Sachin Agarwal have been appointed as election officers.
As per the schedule, nomination forms will be distributed for three days beginning June 4, while submissions will be accepted for three days from June 6 at the FOSTTA office. Scrutiny of nominations will take place from June 8, and the list of candidates will be announced on June 9.
Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations until June 13, following which the final list of contestants will be released.
Polling will be held on June 20 from 11am to 5pm. Vote counting will begin immediately after polling, with results to be declared soon after. FOSTTA plays a key role in addressing traders’ concerns and improving business conditions in the sector.
