Surat: 17 SRP jawans injured in accident

At least 17 jawan of the State Reserve Police (SRP) on election duty to Uttar Pradesh were injured when the bus in which they were travelling rammed into a parked truck following low visibility due to dense fog in Kosamba near Surat on Wednesday morning.

SURAT: At least 17 jawan of the State Reserve Police (SRP) on election duty to Uttar Pradesh were injured when the bus in which they were travelling rammed into a parked truck following low visibility due to dense fog in Kosamba near Surat on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred when the jawans from SRP Group 1 (Vadodara) were going to Udhna railway station in Surat.

They were to board a train to Uttar Pradesh for election duty there.
According to police, when the bus with SRP jawans was passing from near Chandni hotel in Kosamba on national highway 48, the visibility was very low due to dense fog in the morning.
Suddenly, the bus driver noticed a parked truck without tail lights or parking indicators and before he could control the vehicle it rammed into the stationary truck.
About 17 jawans including a platoon commander were injured in this accident. People who had gathered at the accident spot nabbed the truck driver identified as Rajankumar Chand. Kosamba police registered an offence against the truck driver.
