Nehu, govt launch biomed waste mgmt course for health workers

Shillong: A week-long skill-based biomedical waste management course for health workers from govt healthcare facilities across the state will conclude on Friday. It was launched by the department of biomedical engineering, Nehu, in collaboration with Meghalayan Medical Drugs and Services Limited, Govt of Meghalaya. “The certificate course is designed to train close to 400 healthcare workers in batches over the next 18 months,” an official statement said, reports Manosh Das.

Former Deputy Superintendent Akhtar Ali filed a case in the Calcutta High Court against ex-principal Sandip Ghosh of RG Kar Medical College, alleging corruption and mismanagement. Ali claimed Ghosh was involved in scams including improper handling of dead bodies and unfairly failing students for bribes. He sought high-level inquiries and protection from threats.

All students enrolled in six core engineering courses at College of Engineering, Guindy, and Madras Institute of Technology were placed with annual packages ranging from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. This achievement was attributed to the growth in sectors like infrastructure, electric vehicles, and renewable energy.
