Dharmapuri: Rajya Sabha MP and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) president Dr Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday blamed the district administration for not making proper arrangements for Saturday’s jallikattu, in which a 14-year-old boy was gored to death by a bull. He urged the state government to issue a compensation of Rs25 lakh to the family of the deceased.
In a media statement, Anbumani said he was deeply saddened by the death of S Gokul, of Palacode, at the jallikattu event. Pointing out that more than 600 bulls and tamers had participated in the event, he said there were no proper facilities, including a medical team and ambulance, at the event venue.
“We could have saved the boy had the organizers made such arrangements. Dharmapuri district administration should take the responsibility for the boy’s death,” he said.
Anbumani appreciated the boy’s family members for donating his eyes after his death.
