Nature walks in reserve forests for students this wildlife week
The forest department in Goa is organizing guided nature and birding walks for 1,800 school and college students to celebrate Goa Wildlife Week 2023. The activities include visits to protected and reserve forest areas, as well as a trip to the zoo. The department is also conducting beach cleaning drives and nature awareness talks for villagers and NGOs. Competitions, such as drawing competitions, have been held in schools across the state. The week-long event will take place from October 2 to 8.
Wildlife week celebrationskick off with cycle rally
A cycle rally was held in Nagpur to raise awareness about protecting forests, wildlife, and the environment. The rally, with over 150 participants, started from the forest headquarters and concluded at Zero Miles. Various events have been planned for the wildlife week celebrations, including a nature trail, a panel discussion on man-animal conflict, an inter-school quiz contest, and a bird-watching event. In Wardha district, the wildlife week celebrations were inaugurated at Bor Tiger Reserve. Additionally, the Goa forest department is organizing nature walks and birding walks for students, along with other activities. In Karnataka, forest officials were honored for their achievements, including cracking down on encroachers and documenting biodiversity. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to increase the state's forest cover and mitigate human-animal conflict.
Walkathon organised ahead of Smart conclave
A smart relay event consisting of a walkathon, bike rally, and cyclothon was organized in Indore to promote voter participation ahead of the India Smart Cities Conclave 2023. The event aimed to make people aware of the conclave and encourage them to vote. The collector of Indore highlighted the city's smart city status and the importance of voting. A mobile app has been released to help citizens register as new voters and access information about candidates and election results.
