Hazaribag: A 55-year-old woman died after an electric pole, knocked down by gusty winds, fell on her in Vishnugarh block on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Sohagi Devi, a resident of Bakspura village. She had gone to the weekly market in Banaso to sell vegetables. Vishnugarh police station officer-in-charge Sapan Kumar Mahtha said, "A sudden spell of strong winds accompanied by rain hit the Banaso area in the afternoon. During this, a tree near the market collapsed onto an electric pole due to the impact of the wind. The cemented pole snapped under the weight and fell on Sohagi Devi, who was sitting nearby, leading to her death on the spot."Locals tried rescuing her but could not. Police reached the spot and sent th body it for post-mortem exmination.
