State Sikhs to fight for voice at Patna Sahib

Jamshedpur: Infuriated over the axing of state’s representation in Takht Sri Harmandir Ji (Patna Sahib) managing committee, Bihar, Sikh outfits said they would fight to regain the representation.“Sikh representatives of Jharkhand have to come together on one platform and raise the voice against the injustice done to the Sikhs of state. We will protest at Patna Sahib, if required,” said Central Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (CGPC), Jamshedpur, chairman sardar Shailendra Singh.CGPC pradhan Bhagwan Singh said removing the names of the Singh Sabhas of 124 gurudwaras of the state is an insult to the community living in this part of the country. “Patna Sahib is a representative body of the Sikhs of the eastern India. With the removal of Singh sabhas of South Bihar (read Jharkhand), the community has become voiceless. We need to restore our voice.”A delegation of the CGPC will visit Patna Sahib on Tuesday and hold talks with the senior functionaries of the committee. “We will take the path of agitation if the talks fail,” Shailendra Singh said.Citing Jharkhand to be a separate state now, the managing committee of the Takht Sri Harmandir Ji on August 6 decided to remove Jharkhand’s representation, he added.Since the Patna Sahib was formed in 1956, Sikh representatives of South Bihar have been the electorate, said Refugee Colony Gurudwara Committee, Sakchi, president Harvinder Singh Mindi.
