Special briefing sessions for cops in Dhanbad to enchance policing
Sharad Chandra| TNN
Dhanbad: To strengthen policing and enhancing accountability, Dhanbad police on Tuesday launched a special briefing workshop at the police centre aimed at improving the efficiency, professionalism, and responsiveness of police personnel across the district.
On the first day, sub-inspectors (SIs) from various police stations participated in an extensive briefing session, which was attended by SSP Prabhat Kumar, City SP Ritwik Srivastava, and Rural SP S Mohammad Yakub.
Kumar said, “Traditionally, briefing sessions were conducted only for DSPs, SHOs, and circle officers, who conveyed instructions to subordinates. However, we have adopted a new approach by directly briefing sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) for better communication and implementation of strategies.”
The SSP informed that around 340 SIs and nearly 500 ASIs are currently serving in the district. In the first phase, SIs are being trained and briefed in batches. Following this, ASIs will undergo similar briefing sessions over the next five days.
During the workshop, officers are being sensitised on maintaining law and order, crime prevention, quality of investigation, public interaction, and precautions to be observed while performing duty. Emphasis is also laid on improving professional conduct and strengthening public trust in the police force.
The SSP said, “Direct interaction with officers and personnel at the grassroots would help improve the quality of policing and ensure more effective implementation of departmental directives.”
