Ranchi: Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar inaugurated the Ranchi University’s (RU) health and wellness centre on Wednesday. The centre, the first among state universities, would assist employees and students manage their health and control stress by practising their hobbies, including performing arts, literary activities and yoga, RU officials said.
The fraternity can also avail both online and offline counselling to be provided by the Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) and the Ranchi Institute of Neuro Psychiatry and Applied Science(Rinpas).
The governor said, “Every person suffers from stress at some point in life. Hence, this centre would play a vital role. Stay away from excessive use of mobile phones. Also, notice how many times you smile in a day.”
Additional chief secretary to the governor, Nitin Madan Kulkarni, said, “Tension and anxiety are widespread. A total of 1,71,000 people die by suicide in the country each year. Hence, the centre is a positive step.”
Principal secretary (higher education) Rahul Purwar said, “We would make efforts to provide online medical facilities through the centre.”
