Ranchi: The traffic department on Saturday notified new traffic routes in the state capital in view of the R-Day celebrations in Morabadi Ground. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar would unfurl the National Flag at the event.
The notification banned the entry of heavy vehicles in the city from 6 am – 10 pm on R-Day. The vehicles would be stopped at Boreya, Birsa Chowk, Kathal More, ITI Bus Stand, Durga Soren Chowk, Sadabahar Chowk, Law University, Booty More, Khelgaon Chowk and Pandra Bazaar around the city.

Fifteen drop gates will be set up on the roads leading to Morabadi Ground to regulate vehicle movement. While the vehicles of governor’s motorcade and the convoys of the VVIPs will be stationed behind the main stage, those of officials will park near Oxygen Park. “The orange card pass holders will park their vehicles to the west of the stage while green card pass holders will park in front of Bapu Vatika. Others can park their vehicles at the ground in front of the Tribal Research Institute,” the notification read.
Vehicle parking will be prohibited between the stretch from the DC’s bungalow to the Hockey Stadium and from Ranchi College More to the VVIP entry gate. Movement of small vehicles would be normal in other parts of the city.
Traffic SP Rakesh Singh said, “The traffic regulations would be enforced at around 8 am. It would be effective till the R-Day function concludes. Police personnel would be mobilised from other posts to manage vehicle movement.”
Meanwhile, full dress-rehearsal for R-Day parade was held on Saturday in presence of DC Manjunath Bhajantri and SSP Rakesh Ranjan. Bhajantri directed all deputed officers to be present at their respective deployment sites on time and discharge their assigned responsibilities diligently.
