Jharkhand Weather Alert: Rain, Thunderstorms Expected Monday-Saturday
Ranchi: The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Ranchi office on Sunday predicted that light to moderate rain is likely to lash several parts of Jharkhand from Monday to Saturday, along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.
The Met department issued a yellow alert for Monday across 20 districts, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph at isolated places across the state, except in Chatra, Hazaribag, Koderma and Giridih districts.
“An orange alert has been issued for Giridih, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Pakur, Godda and Pakur districts for Tuesday, anticipating thunderstorms and wind warning,” IMD deputy director Abhishek Anand said. According to the department, light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, thunderstorms and lightning strikes is likely at isolated places across Jharkhand through the week. “Partly cloudy conditions are likely to prevail, with a possibility of light to moderate rainfall at some places in the state. The maximum temperature is likely to increase up to 2 degrees Celsius from Monday to Wednesday. Thereafter, no significant change will occur over the next three days,” Anand said.
On Sunday, Daltonganj recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 41.5 degrees Celsius. Other readings included Seraikela at 40.4 degrees Celsius, Jamshedpur at 38.6 degrees Celsius, Bokaro 38.5 degrees Celsius, Pakur 38 degrees Celsius, Lohardaga 37.2 degrees Celsius, Khunti 36.9 degrees Celsius, Ranchi 35.9 degrees Celsius, Chaibasa 34.8 degrees Celsius and Latehar 33.2 degrees Celsius.
In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Manjhari in West Singhbhum district at 18 mm, followed by Maithon in Dhanbad at 7.4 mm and Bano in Simdega at 6 mm.
