Farmer Murdered, Wife Critically Injured in Giridih Attack

Bokaro: A 35-year-old farmer was killed, and his wife was critically injured by unidentified assailants at their home under Madhuban police station (PS) limits of Giridih district late on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Patiya Hansda. His wife Parni Devi, 30, is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhanbad.

The incident took place in Tiriltand village. Locals informed the police that assailants barged into the couple’s house and attacked them with sharp-edged weapons. Hansda was killed on the spot and Parni sustained grave injuries. A team from Madhuban PS reached Tiriltand around 3 am on Wednesday after receiving information about the incident. Parni was initially taken to a nearby hospital, where she received first aid before being referred to Dhanbad for advanced treatment due to her critical condition.

Hansda’s body was sent for postmortem examination. Police said the motive behind the attack was unclear.

Dumri sub-divisional police officer Abid Khan said, “We are trying to ascertain the reason behind the killing. The case will be cracked soon.”
