CCL, ECL ink MoU with state for library, hosp

Ranchi: Coal India Limited’s subsidiaries will build a state-of-the-art library and a 300-bed hospital in Jharkhand as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), the Ranchi-based subsidiary of the CIL, on Friday inked a memorandum of understanding with the state government for building a library in Ranchi. “The library will have a seating capacity of 5,000. It will be built on the Ranchi University campus in Morhabadi within two years at a net expense of Rs 62 crore. Likewise, the ECL, which has its mining operations in Godda, will build a 300-bed hospital in Mahagama block in the district. The hospital, the state government said, will have multi-specialty medical units, ICU units and other modern medical amenities.The officials of the CCL and the ECL inked two separate MoUs with their counterparts in the Jharkhand government at Project Building on Friday. Union coal minister Prahlad Joshi, chief minister Hemant Soren and state health minister Banna Gupta were also present on the occasion.Joshi, who arrived in Ranchi late on Thursday night, met Soren at the latter’s office in Project Building on Friday morning.
