Chatra: Two alleged drug traffickers were arrested with 1.11 kg of opium worth around Rs 6 lakh from a forest area near Gothai village in Chatra district on Saturday. The accused were identified as Raju Ganjhu and Ramdev Ganjhu, both from Jalma village under Lawalong police station limits.Another accused, identified as Sarfaraz Khan, managed to escape, the police said.Simaria SDPO Nagargoje Shubham Bhau Saheb said that police received a tip-off about sale of opium in the forest on the Bagra-Lawalong road. Acting on information, a special team was constituted. As police reached the spot, the suspects attempted to flee but two were caught after a chase.“An FIR has been registered at Simaria police station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and efforts are underway to arrest the absconding accused,” he said.
