Women’s World Cup-winning team physio Akanksha meets CM Sai, credits Chhattisgarh for her success
RAIPUR: Akanksha Satyavanshi, the physiotherapist for the World Cup-winning Indian women's cricket team, met Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in Raipur on Sunday. She credited her success to her home state.
“Chhattisgarh is my birthplace and my workplace. The soil, people, education, and values of this land gave me the strength to reach this stage,” Akanksha said during the meeting.
Chief Minister Sai congratulated Akanksha, stating, “Your achievement is the pride of Chhattisgarh. You have proved that daughters of this state are second to none.” He presented her with a medal and memento and announced an honorarium of Rs 10 lakh in recognition of her contribution to India’s historic victory.
Sai mentioned that the state government is committed to nurturing sporting talent and expanding opportunities in sports, education, and skill development. The government is reviving the State Sports Awards and introducing special incentives for athletes representing India or winning medals at the international level. He also highlighted initiatives like the Bastar Olympics to identify and promote tribal talent, along with plans to provide international-standard facilities for sportspersons across the state.
Sharing her joy, Akanksha said, “Winning the World Cup is the Indian women’s team’s triumph and a moment of pride for Chhattisgarh too. I did not play on the field, but ensuring my team’s fitness and mental strength was my match.”
She discussed fitness with the Chief Minister, laying emphasis on discipline, yoga, and a balanced diet as key to health. Sai, in turn, credited his fitness to inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lifestyle and discipline.
Born in Durg and raised in Raipur, Akanksha began her career with the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association in 2019 and joined the Indian Under-19 women’s team in 2022. Her journey from local grounds to the global stage reflects the resilience, dedication, and pride of modern Chhattisgarh.
